100 MU ::
Morkery, a small peaceful ancient woodland on the Lincolnshire-Rutland
border, was used as an ammunition and bomb store during the Second
World War by the name of RAF
South
Witham. The network of hard tracks provides good all year round access
for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
100 Maintenance Unit was based here during World War II. Together with
233 MU at RAF Market Stainton and
RAF Norton Disney's 93
MU, 100 MU at RAF South Witham
was responsible for supplying bombs, ammunition
and oxygen to the flying stations.
